  • This cold snap has to end.

Some news from my area of michigan. Wind chills up to thirty below zero. There have been a few fires in the last couple of days that were worse than the should have been thanks to the frozen hydrants. This occured just hours ago. It started as a report of a garage fire.

Hope everyone else in the midwest/east is staying safe.

A Canadian cold front is responsible for this.....

SNOW! Definitely hampers response times and fireground operations.

I also wish everyone a safe response.

And the locals are walking around wearing heavy coats and freezing their butts off!

It was -10 back home in WV but it's 36, at 8 pm, in beautiful Fernie, BC Canada. I planned for real cold, but only got mild cold. But I have to go back home to the sub-zero too soon.

Im on long island, its not nearly thirty below but still freezing cold here. For me to respond at to a call at like 3 am i have to risk damage to my car, for one its manual so the transmission freezes a bit, also for me to instantly start my car, and start driving all the fluids are cold and could damage something. My car makes alot of sounds i dont like when its not warm....

Philadelphia Area I understand we will warm up to the freezing mark maybe by Thursday or Friday. Wheeww Time for the short sleeves again

Hey...everybody be careful out there - Dress warmly, use caution with your POVs, circulate water on the pumps, call for sand and salt trucks {Probably should be on most of our first alarms right now } and just watch where you are stepping when there's water around.

yep know how you all feel, I wish the same thing, been staying right around 0 here with windchills between -20 and -30 degrees. Have had a few structure fires in the last few days, unfortunately one of them was a member of a neighboring dept.
