  • If you think riding on a bumper is dangerous...

Take a look at what these British Royal Marines did last week http://www.guardian.co.uk/afghanista...992035,00.html

Quite an impressive move. Hats off to the four gutsy marines and the pilots.

Many here would not allow that because the NFPA says its dangerous!
I am a complacent liability to the fire service

I would agree that is pretty damn impressive. Do you think that any of the Marines thought to themselves about halfway across the river and in the mist of gunfire " What the hell have I gotten myself into?"

Not to take anything away from what these guys did but it has been done before. http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Nov2...004110501.html

Pretty gutsy to ride on the outside of an aircraft, I have enough problems riding inside!

Or "Does this flight have an exit row seat?"

In addition to being, you know, strapped to the outside of a helicopter, its an extremely vulnerable position to be in.

I agree with everyone, what a ballsy, heroic attempt.

Actually what I thought first was:

Oh Man! This is gonna hurt later.

                    which followed with:

Gee I wonder what the wife will say when she hears about this one?

Maybe"I never saw THIS on any recruiting poster!"
That's why Marines,SEALs and Special Forces exist. To do the stuff that the rest of us look at as too dangerous and they do it as a matter of routine.Of course,a SEAL friend of mine from a few years back thinks running into a burning building as a volunteer is kind of stupid too.

That is the truest thing I've ever seen on these forums...imagine if the NFPA was setting the ROE for our boys over there...we would be F***ED up six ways from Sunday.

Funny, the fire service used to be the same way.
