the National brand is now a part of the Snap-Tite product line. But, I think that you will be "stuff out of luck" with 10 year old hose.

Don't quote me on this, you would have to ask your dealer, but I think I was told that the life expetancy of this LDH was about 10 yrs, Ours seem to last about 10 to 15 yrs.

    TFDNICK -

Two original reasons from 10 years ago.
    1) Back when it was purchased we were advised that you could not "pump" the single jacket rubber hose. Obviously when supplying another apparatus, you want to be able to give them the proper water supply.
    2) DISTANT Second was chaffing prevention from the vibration and the LDH moving when charged.

Both of these issues have been resolved and the single jacket rubber LDH produced today no longer has these same issues.

    Hope that is helpful.

Thanks to all that have posted!
    Any other feedback is welcomed.

Our 5" LDh does the same thing. One thing you should look at is getting swivels on the pressure relief valve inlet. This will allow the hose to swivel on the valve as it is filled wil water.

Another question about the double jacketed LDH if I may.
Why double jacketed and not rubber? The double jacket LDH was here before I got on the job and no one can tell me why we have it.

My volly company has had this happen to some of its 5" LDH. I think it is somewhere around 10 years old. It sure is a pain in the neck to rack once it gets twisted around! I'll have to check how old it is!

We had some older lengths of 4" rubber jacketed LDH made by National at the Massachusetts Fire Academy that did the same thing. The problem is, once it delaminates, it gets sucked up around and into into the impellers of the pump, really fracking things up. The pump had to be taken apart to get all of the crap out of there. If this were to happen at a fire....

We removed the lengths by this manufacturer and scrapped them.

    Looking for any feedback:

We are currently experiencing a delaminating issue with our National 5" LDH. The rubber liner inside the Double outer nylon jackets has actually separated from the surrounding nylon jacket.

Is anyone else experiencing this? If so how old is your hose, ours is about 10 yrs old?

Also, is National now owned by a different company, I tried calling and the number has been disconnected, not changed!?

    Keep Safe!
