yes you can replace it, the best way to go is contact the maker of your gear and ask for a list of certified repair places in your area. the reflective material must meet specs. as well as the thread that it is sewn on with. It should be no problem at all.A "Good" fire is not measured by how big it is, but by the fact that everyone is going home safe, and that we possibly learned something new about firefighting. Every time we send our gear out for cleaning it comes back to us with little repairs - patches of shell material as well as reflective striping. Seems to be big business these days. Trilex that advertises here on Firehouse is a large outfit, but there are many. Call the gear manufacturer or local sales rep they should be able to hook you up.

NYC used to use trilex, now we have some dry cleaner do it out in queens, Trilex was great, it was a nice piece of mind knowing that your gear was being repaired by a reputable place and not some industrial dry cleaner. I mean, the guys picking the gear up had no idea they should be wearing latex gloves to protect themselves. I gave them a box and told them to tell their boss that the blood from the Engine guys is mixing with the plaster from the Truck guys and it smells bad!
