Thanks for the link, so far this single story shows the world that these brave soles were more that just Firefighters they were people with families, friends and a passion.
I have been preaching to my fellow brothers and sisters in my department to evaluate the homes in their initial attack area, telling them that "defensible Space" is for our safety first and the home's second. It has been a difficult message to get through.
Now that my son is just a couple of weeks from graduating from the fire accademy and "gung-ho" to join the cause, I feel more driven to change the attitude of the public and fire personell. "Defensible Space" is for the safety of Firefighters, period!
