Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.

"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.

Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.

            Very Sad...RIP Brother..
If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

                  Rest in peace brother!

ATLANTA (AP) - A 33-year-old Atlanta firefighter has died of
injuries sustained fighting a house fire on Thanksgiving night.
Officials say firefighter Steven Solomon died early today in
                  Grady Memorial Hospital's burn unit.
Authorities say a homeless man has been arrested and faces
charges in connection with the fire that resulted in Solomon's
death. They say he started the fire, then left the house without
reporting it before it grew into a dangerous blaze. The man already
was in custody on unrelated charges and faces a hearing tomorrow.
Atlanta Fire Chief Dennis Rubin called Solomon "a hero" and
                  "one of Atlanta's bravest firefighters."
He was injured fighting a house fire in northwest Atlanta that
investigators determined was sparked by an unattended candle left
by homeless people staying in the unoccupied house.
Solomon had been with the Atlanta Fire Department for about four
months. He joined the department after nearly six years with the
                  Macon-Bibb County Fire Department.
