  • Passing of California State's Fire Chaplin

I got this from a contact and posting it since some of you may have known him-

"It is with sadness that I must inform the fire service community that Monsignor John Sammon has passed on to eternal life on the morning of 11-24-06. He passed in his sleep at St Norberts church in Orange, CA he was comfortable and will be sadly missed.

Monsignor Sammon has been the California State Firefighters Association and Orange County fire service chaplain for many many years, and has been seen in regular attendance at Santa Ana's Fire Academy gradutions, Badge Pinning/Promotional ceremonies, Orange County Fire Service events, and many others... Too many to list.

Further information to follow in regards to memorial service, and ceremonies."

The Monsignor was someone I knew personally have would interact with on a regualr basis. It always amazed me that he would remember you name and face regardless of time passed. A very gentle person with compassion for the fire service.
