Has any one have any experience with the foam PACK? Are dept. just purchase one in a demo and we thought it would help on rekindles. We don't have the cafs on are pumpers.
We carry a pro-pack on each of our engines for Class A foam applications. We use it on brush fires, vehicle fires and structure fires for overhaul, and we find it very effective.
We also carry a pro-pack on our rescue for application on Class B fires or spills. Since the most likely situation for us involving class B is MVAs, it's carried on the rescue since that goes to all MVAs.
I used them a few times as a Federal FF at a Military Installation on range brush fires. Worked pretty good, usually had them set real low (1%) and the 2-3 gallon capacity lasted a while. 1" forestry line in, about 30GPM or so, @40-50PSI.
our fire district owns a couple of the pro paks. there great for smaller applications (brush fires, dumpsters) and overhaul. Have used it on car fires, but usually have a 1.5 inch line do the knock down then mop up with the pro-pak. Its another tool to add and has there place.

They definately have their place, we have one on each of our engines as well - we have had good success with them for overhaul, car fires, etc.
Worth the investiment if that is what you are looking to get out of them.
we bought an imitation pro pack a few years ago.... big mistake... tried it once for training, been in the closet ever since. Stay away from the imitations!
Service is the rent you pay for having space on earth.
The Pro Pack is a good tool although in my mind it's low flow, 12 gpm, and high price are marks against it.
My volly FD bought Scotty 8 gpm foam systems for our 3/4 inch garden hose on our old brush truck and 40 gpm foam systems for our 1 inch forestry hose.
The more economical Scotty System allowed us to guy 2-8 gpm set-ups and 2-40 gpm set-ups for less than the Pro Pack. The set up is different from the Pro Pack in that the Scotty system uses a 1 gallon jug that attaches to the end of the hose with a nozzle attached to it. It is available with 2 types of nozzles, one with no aeration, one with medium expansion and one with high expansion. We have used them al and it makes excellent foam for fire attack or blanketing for overhaul.

Crazy, but that's how it goes

Good investment, we’ve had one for about 8 years and it works great. Used mostly in mopping up car fires but also good on room fires (mop up). Works very well on cellulose insulation.
Remember it’s only a “tool”
We have them on the Majority of our engines. Great tool, one drawback I do see with it though is that some guys think it is the cure all for overhaul. But other than that they are great.
