I find that if I wear two pairs of pants I can work longer in a hot enviroment. Oh sure, it slows me down a bit, but I feel safer. Once at a fire I went in and could feel heat on my legs and I didn't like this. So now I wear two pairs of pants and I don't ever have to feel that heat again. I would never work for a department that wouldn't let me wear two pairs of pants because of their ignorant disregard for my safety and feelings. What about you guys?

So you don't strip down to your underwear ??????????? LMAO
Me I wear an aluminum foil jumpsuit under my gear. I find it reflects the heat well and I can always throw popcorn in my pocket to pop it if it gets to hot.******=================

Don't Forget The Lids
I got tired of the whole leather vs. plastic helmet debate so now I wear both. I soon realized thay this offers a huge improvment in cranium protection. Looks a little different but I have noticed it is catching on with the brothers. We just our ISO rating reduced to a four and I contribute this directly to my double helmet policy.Comment

My job has got all of your loser jobs beat. We run our water through a smooth bore nozzle screwed together with a fog, so there! We also run on trucks that are red with a lime green pearl base coat, that has both electronic and mechanical sirens, and all of our lights are combinations of flashers, rotating strobes, with redbluecleargreen lenses, for maximum optical abilty, all for your safety, comfort, enjoyment, pleasure, self-esteem and non-hurt feelings for total socio-political correctness. It's no wonder that when any other fire department in our state has anything more than a wastebasket fire that we haffta get special-called on mutual aid.Leroy140 (yes, THAT Leroy)

If I was working in Chicago I would be wearing 2 pants too, but I would also wear regular Structural Boots inside the 3/4 ones."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin FranklinComment

Oh, sorry...
Me, I've started wearing two hoods and three pairs of gloves. I've recently read that there are many advantages to doing this.

Ah yes the good old 2 pair of pants debate. I find that if you read Whacker Warrior Weekly, you will find that you will indeed gain confidence while entering a warm environment. This added protection along with 3/4 boots pulled up under your bunker pants will completely make you a super hero during super heated situations. Of course we all know that fires burn hotter in the bigger cities. And now, with this new technological advance, we can really go deep.
Chicago, thanks for a great laugh!!Comment

HOLD IT HOLD IT HOLD IT What about wearing 2 coats. I mean really you wouldn't want to dump into something and get your elbow too hot would ya. 3 hoods, 2 coats, 1 pant, plus 3/4 boats, and 700 yards of tin foil, is the why to go. Oh ya and exterior fire attack only.
