Alabama Fireworks Fire

I've just read the story on the Fireworks Factory Fire in Alabama( http://www.firehouse.com/hotshots/ph.../feb/5_al.html ) and I have just got to ask. Did the crowd of onlookers that all fires attract respond with "OOOOOOO" and "Ahhhhhhh" every time one of those rockets went off? Sorry, couldn't resist the joke.
