Tonight's Third Watch

I don't know how many of you watch "Third Watch", but I would like to hear your opinions. NBC usually does a good job as far as accuracy goes, but tonight they were pretty terrible.

1) In New York, somebody would have noticed two missing units for several hours.

2) You mean to tell me that two police officers and 1 good medic can't get their way out of this place. They had several big maglites between them.

3) I don't know what the SOP's for New York are, but around here we take a jump bag and O2. We don't usually have a full IV set and drugs.

Yes they should have missed them much sooner, but since neither had called out on the radio and the one car was on meal it still would have been the length of that meal break at least.

You can get through a locked steel door with a maglite? I'm impressed.

As for the drugs in the jump bags it depends on what drugs you are talking about. Morphine no, narcotics are locked in the units, so that was off base (here). But other drugs are in the jump bags in my local EMS service - cardiac meds and such. They also carry IV sets, intubation stuff etc. That sort of thing will vary by location and service.

I can see your point, three hours is a little long to not hear from unit's. On the other hand they were two medics and two cops. Talk about having med.'s in the jump bag? If they were a fire crew I could understand the argument about being trapped, but these guy's don't generally carry forcible entry tools with them in their bag. Now if the medic's had pulled out a spreader, Then I could see your point.

I am a big fan of the show. It depicts a lot of real life feeling and events that the public never see from their protectors. Sometimes there are a few points that I see and think darn the luck! That Duty Srg. for the PD, tell me you have never seen this before. I would rather watch reruns of "Third Watch" all day then see a movie like "Back Draft" even once. I watch part of this movie and never wanted to see another movie again. The feeling that are revealed here; the kids in the car wreck that died on prom night, putting someone life before your career, having to sacrifice a life to save another, watching someone die and going back for more, and losing a comrade, only to have to go out and do it again; This happens to us daily and even though some things may be a little distorted, the points are valid and it shows the public what its really all about!

The thing I enjoy most about the show is the crossover from one to the other. We are all in this together," THE PROTECTOR'S", and it is good to see this depicted as one group and not three seperate groups each doing their own thing.

It's a TV show. It's entertainment, your not suposed to fill out a drill sheet for watching it.

Heck, I could have gotten out of that building with my pocket knife - but then, I'm pretty good at that kinda thing. I just can't wait 'till next week when one of them is supposed to "fall" - I hope it's that idiot paramedic Kim - anybody but Bobby!!!

You all make valid points. I did not know that some places carried serious drug bags, thanks for backing me up on the Morphine. The door looked like it could have been jimmied, there was significant light coming in around it. I want to thank you for reminding me that it is just for fun. I will definitely agree that it is more realistic than Backdraft

First I thnk they'll either get rid of bobby or jimmy, After a certain amount of time woudln't dispatch of tried and contacted the units and asked there status?, Although I must admit I liked the potato gun scene

I think getting rid of bobby would give the show a whole new twist

Im going to have to disagree with a few, because even though backdraft wasn't that realistic, it did show a nice sense of symbolism of the FD(well in some parts at least)But on the topic of 3rd watch, i honestly believe its a great show, not just because of my link to the fire service, but because of the fact that even if you had no connection between the 3 factors, its plot is still extremely interesting and exciting. I can't wait till next week's show although im kinda dissapointed that someone is getting dropped.

None of the people listed should be the one to fall. If anyone should fall, it should be Doc or his cocky partner. Doc's rubs me the wrong way and his partner...well, no explanation is really needed there. It would really suck losing any of those guys. Especially Bosco. He is by far, my favorite character.

Doc can't be wiped out. He always knows his **** and is an excellent leader. I would like him working on me. His SOB partner Carlos can go. He is so conceited. All he cares about is getting into Med School.

Keep in mind NBC has teased us before. Remember the ER when Greene was flying and the helo had to make a forced landing. All the commercials made it look like he was going to die.

You're mean!!! Bobby is just about the only reason I watch. If only more men were like Bobby.(hint)
The cop I want to see go is Bosco-but you're all right about Carlos-he's puffier than a cold parakeet.
