The report is it's a Cirrus SR20 fixed wing single engine plane

It took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. A small airport for small private aircraft.

Was watching footage of the job while the troops were attacking from the interior. Looks like they did one hell of a good job, no screwing around.

        Good work, boys.

Urgent message from Fieldcom to Manhattan dispatcher just sent. It was a "mixer off" message. Unable to be picked up by a conventional scanner, like I'm using.

                    ESPN.com news services

NEW YORK -- A small plane piloted by New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle crashed into a 50-story condominium tower Wednesday on Manhattan's Upper East Side, raining flaming debris onto the sidewalks below and rattling New Yorkers' nerves five years after the Sept. 11 attack.

                    Lidle died in the crash.

The twin-engine plane came through a hazy, cloudy sky and hit the 20th floor of The Belaire -- a red-brick tower overlooking the East River, about five miles from the World Trade Center -- with a loud bang, touching off a raging fire that cast a pillar of black smoke over the city and sent flames shooting from four windows on two adjoining floors.

seems kinda hard to get "real" or "truthful" facts on situations like these huh?

I'm sure most all of this will change in the comming hours!

                          God Bless all

Apparently, it wound up as a 4th Alarm Assignment. The members made one hell of a push into the apartments and knocked it down.

Building was a 50 story Occupied Mutiple Dwelling (apts are in floors 22-50)(lower floors are medical offices)

                            11 Members injured
                            5 civilians injured
2 10-45 code 1's and at least 1 additional 10-45 code 3 (confirmed so far)

                              Cirrus

If the plane was fitted with a parachute and going by one photo of a plane on a new site it must be a cirrus 20SR. These planes are computerised, high tech featuring 2 LCD panels on the flight deck, a GPS and autopilot and all electric controls. I was flown around Melbourne last week by my stepson in a Cirrus 20SR. http://www.cirrusdesign.com/ - and yes the interior layout is comfortable.

The inside of that planes looks like a car interior.

Prayers with the families, and kudos to the FDNY for a fast response and knock down.
