It is with regret that the Office of Fire Prevention and Control announces the death in the line of duty of Firefighter John A Beyer, age 38, of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Company on September 22, 2006.
FF Beyer collapsed at home on Sept. 21 after a fire company training exercise. He was transported to the hospital where he was placed on life support and subsequently died. He is survived by his children, Amy and Beth; parents, Donald and Lillian Beyer; sister, Laura (Jeremy) Hafner; nephews Jared and Nathan; and special friend, Rachel.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26, and Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Colonial Memorial Chapels, Inc., 3003 South Park Ave., Lackawanna, NY (716) 824-3007.
A firematic service is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 6:45 PM. Staging in full uniform or blank pants/white shirt will be at 5:00 PM from the Fire Hall, 250 Young Street, Wilson, NY.
The funeral service is scheduled on Thursday at 9:30 AM at St. Martin’s of Tours Church, 1140 Abbott Road, Buffalo, NY 14220.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wilson Volunteer Fire Company, 250 Young Street, Wilson, NY 14172.
