  • Nine FDNY Injured at Three-Alarmer

Firefighters battle a raging blaze as it engulfs the top floor of a Brooklyn apartment building yesterday. Nine firefighters, including this hero rescuer (right), were injured before the flames were brought under control.

The three-alarm fire broke out at 4 a.m. at 2625 Farragut Road, a fourstory brick building in Flatbush that is home to about two dozen families. More than 100 firefighters arrived at the scene and were able to bring the blaze under control 55 minutes later.

In addition to the nine injured firefighters - two of whom were taken to the burn unit at New York Hospital - one civilian suffered an asthma attack.
