  • Your department's funding?

Once again it is budget submittal time for my department, and as always the governing body says is "cut-back time". If you can supply me with the following information so that I can use as bullets in my gun it will be greatly appreciated:

    1--Paid or Volenteer?
    2--City,County, or Privately funded?
3--Average Number of calls per year?
    4--Number of personnel?
    5--Number of equipment?
    6--Amount Budgetted?

    1-Volunteer
    2-County and Privately
    3-520
    4-50
    5- 3 engines, 1 rearmount, 1 heavy rescue, 1 als/bls ambulance appx. 1.5 sq miles
6-we have bond issues for when we need new equpiment such as vehicles or if we need renovation. Basically, an estime is put up for voting by the citizens of the area whether or not they will spend the money. We do have a budget dfor other things. I would guess it is in excess of 5 million, but thats a rough estimate, if i get a more concrete # i will update it... thats for the Long Island, NY Department.. Look in firehouse magazine either sept or october or august, it lists the budgets of volunteer FDs and in the July issue it does for the paid departments
