Mayor "Deadbeat" Street would rather build new stadiums than help the men and women that protect the city.

Being from Detroit, I bleed with our brethern in Philly. You have it as bad as we do. A rotten Mayor and an administration that doesn't care. But we all know we'll never stop being firefighters through and through.

After watching the news tonight it looks like the brothers and sisters of the PFD finally have their contract that they wanted 7 months ago.

Greg- The contract that was awarded was NOT the contract which was awarded to the firefighters through BINDING ARBITRATION. Though I do not know all the details, I do know that this contract has several layers of "frosting and sprinkles" that the city offered to make themselves look good. The City knew that they were in a loosing battle- An arbitrator awarded a contract, they didnt like it, so they appealed it. They could have held it up in court, made the union pay for a fight and suffer without a contract for a very long time, so they tossed in some stuff that wouldn't cost them very much at all- a sick bank, (they would contribute .50 an hour for every 1 hour donated by members) and other stipulations. However, approximately 900 vs. 100 or so members voted for the new contract in the special meetings that were held today. Obviously they liked it enough that they wanted it. Good for them, I am glad that they got it. However...I still cant help but wonder.....Is that Assh*ole of a mayor Deadbeat Street laughing all the way to the bank, using the Bindingly Arbitrated contract as toilet paper?? Is he laughing at the thought of "Binding Arbitration"???

Good for the lads that they got what they feel is right. Bad for everyone that the city got out of a lawful decision!!!!

              Army---

Know that I have read the Inquirer and the story on this web site I agree that you are right. Its not the same as the arbitrated deal. It is a shame that "Deadbeat" Street cares more for the Eagles & Phillies than he does the Firefighters of the city.
Now here is something to think about if the PFD had someone like Police Commissioner Timoney as their head do you think this would of lasted as long? ---Just a thought.--
