Any word on any cities having problems on Oct. 30 this year?
I haven't heard anything, just know traditionally cities like Detroit and Camden, NJ among others usually have unusually busy nites.

Contrary to popular belief, Detroit does not burn down every year. The arson sprees that everyone recalls happened nearly 20 years ago. Due to increased community involvement and the city's strategic response plans, Devil's Night is now Angel's Night in Detroit. The past two nights around here have been very, very quiet.

Now that I've said all that... it has been a while since we've had warm weather AND Halloween on a Friday night, but I wouldn't expect much news from these parts.

We had a crazy night last night (devil's night out here), but most of it was fluke.

Some kids piled a dozen or so wooden palettes on the main road last night and lit them on fire. It was taken care of quickly enough, but then a few minutes later one of our main power transformers blew out. We are still looking into the cause of that one, but it appears to have been mechanical.

And then to top it all off, I got a call at 2am to respond to a condo hotel to deal with a dry sprinkler system that had inexplicably dumped and activate the alarm. I finished resetting that that one at Noon today. Looks like a faulty compressor was to blame.

I could use a little sleep.
