VICTORIA -- After its own summer of wildfires, B.C. is being asked for some help by fire-stricken California.
The province's public safety minister, Rich Coleman, says a request came in Monday morning.
He says California is not asking for firefighters, but equipment like air tankers and fire-retardent gel.
Fires in California are raging from the Mexican border to the suburbs north of Los Angeles.
They have destroyed more than 800 homes and claimed more than a dozen lives.
