  • Bourkes

Has anyone ever saw or used smoke tinted bourkes or even the amber tinted ones? I mainly curious about the smoke tinted ones. How dark are they and if your using them in a dark area would it hinder your visibility?

I know this doesn't answer your question, but ... I've never really seen anyone actually use them. Even if someone did use them, they don't really offer much, if any, protection. As a result, I don't think it makes too much of a difference if they are smoke tinted, amber, purple, green, blue, magenta ...

Does it really matter? No matter which ones you get, after a few fires they will all be dark anyway...

unless you are a curb-sitting poser...

Anywho...just go with the clear ones.

I have bourkes on my helmet and it would not matter what tint they were because they are scratched and covered in soot or any other crap that builds up on them anyway. Besides they don't provide much protection anyway. I have tried using them for auto extrication and overhaul, I either can't see out of them or they don't stop much from getting in my eyes.I basically think bourkes are more of a traditional item for a helmet.

Yes yes i know they dont offer much of any protection. I was looking to buy some for my leather just for traditional purposes such as firefiftyfive said, and i noticed they had the smoke tented and amber ones.

I bought some just a few weeks back, and got the clear ones. I would just get clear ones, with all the soot that builds up, you may as well have em as clean as poss so that you can see through them if you use them.
