Rest in peace brother! May the Lord comfort the family and friends of Jim Richards.
(Oran-AP) -- A volunteer firefighter has died while fighting a
field fire near Oran (OHR'-uhn) in northeast Iowa.
Officials say 49-year-old Assistant Chief Jim Richards of Oran
died yesterday while operating the pumper truck that supplied the
water.
Preliminary tests indicate he died of a heart attack.
Fire chief Larry Wedemeier says they'd been fighting the fire
for about 45 minutes when Richards collapsed.
The fire started about two miles west of Oran and worked its way
a-half mile through a field, burning 60-to-80 acres corn fodder and
bean stubble.
