There is a LT above me with overall responsbility, but I make decisions...it's a team effort and we pretty much agree on everything (we've been best friends since we were babies).

We keep track of the bottles using a database and know which ones need to go out for hydro testing. Before we started running the SCBA department, the only way they knew the bottle had to be hydro tested was someone had to set aside the bottle if it had an expired date during after-use inspections.

Other responsibilities related to the Scott pack repairs is the budgeting of the SCBA department.

We are only required to have FF1. But I have FF2, Instructor I, Aerial Operator, Pump Operator, EMT-B, and a slew of non-certification courses. As far as the Scott repair goes, I took the Field-Level Maintenance class. Other responsibilities related to the Scott pack repairs is the budgeting of the SCBA department. Nozzles, and other items are taken care of either by the Engineering department or the Equipment department.

    Attn: SCBA techs

A question for all FD personell that are responsible for SCBA maintenence/repair/testing:

In addition to the certifications required for fire/ems, what additional certifications (state, US, manufacturer) do you have, or are you required to have.

    For example,
Me: FF/EMT-P Scott Certified in overhaul level repair for
    Scott 2.2 3.0 4.5

Also, what additional responsibilities do you have as a SCBA tech? (nozzles, extinguishers, hose repair, etc.)
