There's a competition? A parade? Damn, I thought that was just the traffic out of town.

Gee, do you think they will vote on the IAFC Resolution to ban alcohol in fire houses?

Actually George, something similar was talked about briefly at my County caucus(sp?). Of course, it was over a few beers.

The New Jersey State Firemen's Convention. Wildwood Convention Center.

Who better, for many years, than FF's to violate the occupancy rating of a structure...by cramming something like 11,000 delegates into a hall rated for 8,000. My figures may be off...but all of you who have been there in the past, will verify it.

I found it outrageous. I no longer attend.

NJ, come back. New convention hall opened last year. Our attendance no longer fills the building close to capacity, there are even empty seats left. Very nice building, well setup, lots of room and conveniences.

And yes, sitting in the old one (which is currently a pile of rubble as it was demolished in last week or so) on Saturday morning was absolutely horrible.

Not only was it horrible...we were breaking the law! Year after year after year....and everyone knew it. Of course, the Wildwood code officials wouldn't dare put an end to it...and risk losing all that money being spent.

              Maybe next year.

Bowman, I'll look for you. You should have had a County caucus meeting recently, which goes over almost everything that will be brought up at the meetings themselves. Plus you can expect someone from southern Ocean county bringing up discussion from the floor about a second fireman's home.

                    1. In reality, you could count on one hand the number of useful issues that have been handled at that convention in the past 20 years.

                    2. As a Boonton native, I have to ask, why in the world do we need another Firemen's Home? The one we have is gorgeous and well run. It is built on about a skillion acres that could easily be expanded. Plus it is protected by the finest FD in the State of NJ.

Well it was a real interesting time in Wildwood, Spent 1 1/2 hours standing in the rain Friday at the southern most part of the displays, Then in to the convention hall for good time watching beach balls being bounced around in the stands to the Gov. being boo'ed. We now have a new President after a long and drawn out count and re-count and re-re-count Joe Paolo is now the President winning by a count of 53 votes

                        SOUTH AMBOY WINS AGAIN

Well it was an enjoyable weekend...even though it rained thursday & friday ,saturday definatley made up for it. Parade was awesome, the tents had nice variety of things to buy and the apparatus displays had some amazing trucks to look at. But the best of all was the convention center when we won best Overall for the Parade and when my truck won 1st place for best appearing Platform.....So for those who were there....what did ya think of South Amboy FD??? Just curious on how other people view our department.

I'd be a whole lot more impressed if you were bragging about your fire suppression capability.

BTW, somebody tell me more about McGreevey getting booed. I love it.

Well, he was boo'ed as he walked in not alot, then he spoke for 10 minutes (people were getting bored real fast) then as he walked the boo'ing started again, but on his way out he stopped for a few photo op's, man did this **** people off cause they wouldn't re-start the meet until after he left the boo'ing got so load it was unreal
