Question- Does anyone know of any websites that lists used apparatus for sale? I have tried all of the manufactures. My company is looking for a used rescue. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you and be safe.

Do a web search for "used fire apparatus". You should find quite a few.

Some that come to mind are Alpine, Firehouse 66, Fire Trucks Plus. I know that there seveeral others out there.

www.firetec.com is one I check frequently. But the last post about the search function is the best. I found pages of resources.

If you are looking for a good used heavy rescue, good luck. My department had enough funded for a used walk around hevay rescue and a used pumper for use as a backup, and after extensive searching learned the simple fact that used walk around heavy rescues are very few and far between. We ended up scrapping the pumper and just today sealed the deal for a demo heavy walk around rescue from Horton.

The walk arounds we found were either too small or too old. But there are plenty or walk ins out there, so if that will work you will have no problem. I have searched the web for sevreral months looking at used rescues, so post your specs and I will let you know if I have seen anything that matches.

Radioguy- I have discovered that it is hard to find a used walk-around heavy rescue. Like you said, most of the walk-ins are either too small or too old. I will try to get some specs and I will be sure to post them. Thank you for the assistance. Unfortunately, it is too late, but I have found two walkaround heavy rescues. One was made in 2000. Impressive truck approx. $270,000.

Yeah, I probably saw that truck, was it in CA? The Demo we got was in the same price range, so we went with it instead, and is kind of nice to get a demo as it has every available option on it!

Initially we were trying to find a used truck in the $120-190,000 range, but the only two that really met our specs sold so fast we couldn't move. For us to buy a truck required both a public meeting and a county commisioners meeting, and with the market being as it is you really need to have check in hand when you find a good deal. Eventually we decieded to scrap the backup pumper idea and get the best rescue we could find.

Here is what we ended up with, for not a whole lot more than that used one for $270,000

The truck was in CA. We currently have a 20 year old rescue, but do not want go for a brand new one just yet. It still does the job, but we do not want to take any chances. A lot of companies around my way are buying demos. It seems the way to go when it comes to budget issues.
We are some what limited on the amount we can spend on the used truck. I hoping to find something that is 10 years or less. I know it is hard. I am still trying to catch up with the Chief to get some specs.
Good luck with your new truck and thanks again for your help. Are you aware of any websites that lists departments that are selling apparatus?

I have been to Boles and have done the same thing (windowshopped). I printed out a few of the ads for my chief. Thanks for the suggestion.
