So the quick answer is...While Pennsylvania is a member of both, California is not. So you'd have to take the course curriculm from PA, and show it to however certifies you in CA and see if they'd accept it.
If you, say, where going from PA to FL, it should transfer just fine.
Now, you'll have to send your $15 or so to "register" with each of these associations. At least in CT, the application forms come along with your state certificate.
I'd also caution if you have money riding on it, like you're planning to move to take a firefighting job, contact the agency involved where your relocating too and get assurance in advance that everything is honkey-dorey. It's one thing to fight for your certs if your just moving and gonna volunteer in the new place...it's another to find your not eligible for a new job when you get there and find out there's a technical glitch.IACOJ Canine Officer

Dalmatian is right when he said, you should check out where you are going. Michigan is on both lists but to be certified here you have to be an active member of a fire dept. and then challenge the Michigan FF Training Councils test.Vintage Firefighter:

We're on Both......
Maryland is on both lists, but I think that the National Pro Board is recognized more readily here. Whenever I take a course, I make sure that there is credit for whatever certification I am working towards. I currently hold eleven Nat. Pro Board certificates, including Fire Officer IV, Instructor III, and HazMat Tech. Stay safe....Never use Force! Get a Bigger Hammer.
