  • Ok...whose a weather geek and whose watching Fabian

Ok, first, how can you take seriously a storm named "Fabian?" Well, it's better than that last schmuck to hit New England -- honestly, "Bob?"

I don't like the track predictions. Of course saying that, I'm pretty much insuring it'll go even further east out to sea...but gut feeling is still telling me this is gonna come *a lot* closer to shore than current forecasts, and that's the vibe I'm getting from some of the amateur weather groups too.

Could be an interesting weekend in New England...everybody got your fuel tanks topped off?

    You might get lucky..........

The Mid Atlantic tourism board has dispatched a Tuna boat to the area off the mouth of the Chesapeake bay to erect "Detour" signs. If Fabian can read, he'll be off to France......... Stay Safe....

I too have a very bad feeling. The first predictions were taking it out west of Bermuda. Yesterday they said it was coming in between Bermuda and the East Coast. The water in RI is still around 70 degrees. Considering the number of storms that we had last winter and spring, how can we not expect this? We are well overdue for a Hurricane. I work Thurs/Fri days and Sat/Sun nights. I have warned my wife that if this storm heads this way, I probably won't be home until at least Monday.

It's gonna go north and miss the U.S.

BUT if it waits too long to turn, the timing and path will be a lot like the Long Island Express of 1938

              Here's something to think about:

1938, just about no one had chainsaws.

So all those trees where cut by handsaw & axe!

Think about that bit of work next time your out clearing trees after a storm. We can get our roads re-opened within a few hours of a major hurricane now thanks to chainsaws. Back in '38 it must've taken days to restablish roads around town, although most would've been paved in my state during the mid-30s so mud in the aftermath of a major rainstorm like a hurricane wouldn't have been too bad.

                      Wellll...............

Looks like a good week for shore leave........ The jet stream projection for the same time frame shows the jet paralleling the Gulf stream. Combination of the two factors should keep the storm at sea, but the beaches will take a beating.... Stay Safe....

                        I admit it...

I'm tracking the storm and glad that it looks like it's going to miss the east coast...but it looks like Bermuda might get a good whacking....batten down the hatches!! I'm not a big weather geek, but I like to try to keep up with them!!!
