    This list could be endless

    Zac,
How about fire fighters who are really fire lighters, problems and solutions?

How about volunteer recruitment and retention?

How about leadership in the fire service, problems, solutions and case studies?

How about a comparitive analysis of the NFA ICS and other Incident Command Systems?

How about the methods and strategies of Wildland Interface concerns and fire suppression?

How about community planning and it's impact on fire protection in the rural setting? Or the Suburban setting? Or the Urban setting?

How about the impact of the most recent health care privacy laws on how we do our EMS business?

How about the success and failure of sprinkler systems in the residential property?

Hope this helped get your creative juices flowing.

Then there's the 'hot' issue on why children sleep through smoke detectors --

    http://www.ul.com/media/newsrel/nr031203.html

Or why the US has the highest (or one of the highest) fire mortality rates in the world considering we're a wealthy country.

Sprinkler systems or flammable decorative materials -- relating to the Rhode Island fire.

I studied Fire Science and did papers on smoke detectors, the Long Island '95 "wildfire" (one paper right after it happened and a follow-up paper for grad school a couple of years ago), and a paper on the psychological aspects of arsonists.

    Good luck.

How about the total disregard for firefighter safety in the building construction industry.

The 2/20 phenomenon(sp?)..that is 2 days on, but acting like 20yrs of experience.

Or how the use of man-made sythetics have increased the danger of fire and to firefighters as compared to our turn of the century counterparts.

Compare methods from 20 years ago to today.....

    Safety standards
    Tactics and Stategy

Tradition vs Progress in the Fire Service....why the two are not Mutually Exclusive.

The complete history of your department. Who was important in its beginnings, etc etc etc.

    Good luck!

    How About................

I did my doctoral thesis on whether Nextel is a blessing or a curse. And you could study why older chiefs are assigned to upper floors on multiple alarm fires, rather than younger officers. Stay Safe....

    Zach,
welcome to the forums ...........not really trying to be sarcastic here ....but here are some topics that have been debated over the course of time here (in no particular order)
    Paid vs Volly
    Smooth bore vs Straight bore
Quints or reg engine /truck assignments
and although the list is short ,I would be a FOOL if I didnt mention Leather or Plastic helmets ! check it out and get back to us.

This should get WAY past 30 pages !!
