NEVER FORGET
#1 This needed to be back on top of the forum's.
#2 In no way does having a seperate monument for the 343 Firefighters and 60 Police and other Rescue workers, take away from the other victims of 9/11. THERE IS ONE SIMPLE DIFFERENCE, besides the fact that they are (were) Fire, Police, and Rescue Workers,
ALWAYS REMEMBER THEY WERE GOING IN TO HELP ALL THE OTHERS. All the other victims were innocents in the wrong place at the wrong time, THESE HERO'S WENT IN WHEN EVERYONE ELSE WAS TRYING TO GET OUT!!!!
GOD BLESS THEM ALL AND THEIR FAMILIES.(should now be CharlieRFD,past,Pres.), but I've had this screen name for so long, I'm keeping it..., besides I'm Deputy Chief now.
BE SAFE OUT THERE
NEVER FORGET
GOD BLESS THE 343 AND 60, MAY GOD GRANT HIS PEACE TO THEIR LOVED ONES.

The 343 Firefighters, Police, EMS and Port Authority officers who so bravely gave their lives September 11th should be given the respect due them. I vehemently disagree with the decision to have the names of these HEROES listed alphabetically with the other victims instead of by department with the brothers they lived and died with.September 11th - Never Forget
I respect firefighters and emergency workers worldwide. Thank you for what you do.

Same 9/11 honor for all? Let rescuers be listed separately
By ROSALEEN TALLON
Out of the September rubble, dust and tears of Ground Zero, two stories emerged. Both these stories must be told, for the sake of America's history and for the sake of America's future.
The first story is one of hardworking innocents who went to work that September morning and never came home. They were doing what Americans do - working an honest job, so they could enjoy their weekends, homes and vacations with family and friends. Each World Trade Center worker's life was precious.
No one showed how precious the lives in those towers were better than the police officers who stood bravely amid body parts, disoriented civilians and loud sirens, to guide thousands away from the scene. No one cared about the WTC workers more than the emergency medical technicians and paramedics who saved their lives at that very spot, as building debris dropped alongside them. No one valued the innocent lives of those trapped above more than the firefighters who entered the infernos and climbed those crowded stairs, hoping to rescue all those people and make sure they got home to their families.
The uniformed rescue workers were not killed by the terrorists that day. They gave their lives so the innocent men and women whom the terrorists targeted might be saved. This selfless love transcended the selfish hate of that day. That is the second story.
Recently, the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. voted unanimously to "honor the loss of life equally and the contributions of all without establishing any hierarchies." The LMDC does not want the rescue workers to be listed together. Would all New Yorkers have voted for this?
I am the sister of 26-year old fallen 9/11 Firefighter Sean Patrick Tallon. It was hard to hear that Sean's head had been crushed by a massive steel beam. However, it gave my parents and me consolation that Sean's body and the bodies of the other firemen he was with were found covering several WTC workers. We know Sean died trying to save the lives of these people.
Since I found out about the LMDC's decision, I have joined others in appealing to the leaders of our city and state to make sure the rescue workers are listed together at the memorial. That is all we are asking for. We are not asking for a separate memorial. We are not asking for a hierarchy in which rescue workers are listed before or bigger than any of the WTC workers. We are simply asking that those men and women who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty be listed together, by department on the main memorial, along with recognition of the brave actions of this group.
I appeal to Gov. Pataki, who has the power to reverse the LMDC's decision, not to forget what my brother and his fellow rescue workers did Sept. 11, 2001.

CONTACT THE GOVERNOR
We need to change this, if everyone reads E40FDNYL35's post above, there is a link to (www.911fallenheroes.org), even more information there, BUT also a link on how to contact Govenor Pataki, lets ALL 'just do it', tell your friends, families and co-workers too. WE can change this.
God Bless the 343 and the 60, and grant his peace to their loved ones.

Now I'm bawling my eyes outRosaleen's words are heart-rending. But so true.
We CAN'T let the story of these heroes be lost amidst the horror of that day. The horror for me (me?? how can I even group myself in with the Brothers and the families of the murdered) IS the loss of the firefighters, police, EMS and Port Authority workers. Not to take anything away from ANY of the victims. That's just how I feel.September 11th - Never Forget
