Positions for Carrying Axes during Parades

I have seen two different ways to carry axes when marching. I have searched online, and found nothing. Does anyone know the proper way to carry an axe while marching?

I don't know, but thats what they made 6#axes for.

When our honor guard marches, we generally try to keep the head of the axe facing out and away from the flags. We also have a 4 step change of direction when our arms get tired, so as far as I know, either position is fine.

As for saluting with the axe, we have a two step to bring the axe up and inline with the body on the first step, and face the blade of the axe away from our body on the second step, then in reverse to go back to marching stance.
