            As Usual............

Needless to say, we have a reputation for being...... Er,... Ah,.... Shall we say different. So, with that in mind:

            White....Officers

            Black or Yellow....Firefighters
            (User's choice)

            Blue......EMS (non firefighting)

            Red......Probies

            Orange....Observers

I guess I should explain the "Observer" program a bit. We wanted to have a program in place that would allow a person who was of age, (18) but not a member of the department, to ride along on calls. people who were considering becoming a volunteer, members of the press, just plain citizens who wanted to learn more about volunteers, were all reasons to do this. Having a helmet, even though the observer stays with the apparatus, prevents other firefighters/officers and cops from telling the individual to "get back beyond the yellow tape". Observers DO NOT go into anyplace that requires any type of protective clothing. Stay Safe....

              For my dept:

              Vollys: Black
Firefighters: Yellow Firedomes of Black traditionals, depending if they are on duty or off
              Captains: Red
              Asst Chiefs: White
And of course the chief's is white

                colors

                White- Chief and Assistants.
                Red- Capt's and Lieutenants
                Yellow- Firefighters

But we are curently making the change to black 1010's and proper identification on the sheild of the helmet. But think chief and asst. will keep the white color.

                  Here's what we have:

                  White- Chief and Asst. Chief
                  Red- Captain and both Lieutenants
                  Black- Firefighter
                  Yellow- Probationary Firefighter
                  Black w/ orange-Explorer

-Helmets from Firefighter thur Chief are traditional Ben 2 Plus.
                  -Probies have traditional Bullard Firedomes.
-Explorer have modern style w/ orange markings.

At one time all Firefighters, including probationary wore yellow. That got kind of confusing because we're vollies and never know exactly who is going to show up. Beside everyone looks about the same in an SCBA. So we went to the system we have now. It seems to be working great.
