Just wondering if your departments have and use a Fire-Rescue Boat of any kind. Also if you would post a picture that would be great.

Our rescue boat is a row boat with a five or ten hp motor on it. We have a couple of members that live on the lake and will respond with their boats. We have a fairly busy lake, but have not had a call that the person was not already on shore in years. The boat we have has worked well in practice.Comment

We use this boat as primary response on all structure fires that are accessible by water. It is equipped with all of the basic firefighting equipment needed for an initial attack and is supported by personnel responding by land. It is also ALS equipped. We cover the entire lake on both the Chilton County and Coosa County sides. The boat is actually owned by Lake Mitchell H.O.B.O. and we operate the boat. If you have any other questions you can post them here or email me at [email protected] .Matt Griffin

I don't know much about our boat because I've never worked it but I do know it has an articulating aerial device and can boost the hydrant pressure system. It has been used to relay pump to fires. Toronto has an island community so it there is a ferry service and the boat is the ice breaker for the ferries. It has a full time crew of a marine capt., fire capt., engineer(non-fire) and whenever it has a call the pumper crew from the station where it is docked comes aboard. www.torontofirepics.com/fireboat334.htmComment
