My apologies to the forums. I am not always able to access the forums and I guess I have missed this controversy. I was asking in relationship to several threads posted and replied to in the past few days.

There is plenty of past reading material. Numerous threads...to say the least. Many have been CLOSED, due to the controversy. Below are a few to start with. First...you should be aware that this note was posted by the webteam of Firehouse Forums on March 3, 2003. I am unclear as to their current stance on this issue. Alcohol is being discussed in Wyoming related threads, so maybe they've changed their posture on this issue.

The discussion of alcohol in the firehouse, based on our own determinations and the suggestions of multiple members, has been closed and removed.

Effective immediately, this topic has no place on Firehouse.com. Non-fire service professionals read these forums and discussion about drinking and responding to calls has no place here. It never goes anywhere and just the discussion of it makes the entire fire service look poor.

There is no need to start a new thread discussing this topic or discussion, as it will be removed immediately.

    Thank you
    WebTeam
By the way webteam...is this still your policy?

Bryan- not trying to ignore or disregard such an importsnt issue, but this topic has been argued (very heatedly!!) on these forums numerous times. I'd suggest you search through the archives and have a read as there is heaps on this topic in them....

started a topic Alcohol & Volunteers

    Alcohol & Volunteers

With all the news lately regarding fire personnel responding and in some cases even driving fire equipment while under the influence, I was wondering how various volunteer depts control call out and response from members. Are there specific personnel on call who would not use alcohol during their call out period, strict zero tolerance policy against responding if alcohol consumed, any other methods in use. It must be a bit difficult for some smaller depts, eg 20 - 30 members to ensure there is a adequate response for a serious situation if it happens on a friday night or during an area celebration.
