We are who we are...we are Firefighters

We, the men and women of the Fire Service, facing the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so many, for so long with so little that the Mutts expect us to do everything with nothing...and yet with each new day, there is renewed passion and new hope, for without us, there is no hope for those who need us. It does not matter if they are young or old, rich or poor, healthy or sick, college professor or idiot. Somewhere, everyday, the call for help is made and we go... we have to, it's our call to duty, it's what we do and do well. We carry the scars of battle on our bodies and the memories our Brothers and Sisters who made the Supreme Sacrifice near and dear to our hearts. We are who we are... we are Firefighters!
‎"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."
    Lt. Ray McCormack, FDNY

Well said, and I agree with you that in spite of adversity we continue to forge ahead proudly!

                          Well said Captain.

This "mission statment" should be included in all general orders issued to new recruits.
