I first heard this one on the news during my drive into work today....

Florida deputies eat glass-laced burgers

Tampa, Florida-AP -- Two Florida sheriff's deputies were hospitalized after eating broken glass mixed with the onions on their cheeseburgers.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's office says the deputies stopped at a McDonald's restaurant in Tampa for their evening meal break last night.

One deputy was airlifted to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with internal injuries. The other was treated at the scene but later hospitalized for a more thorough examination.

Authorities closed the restaurant and detained 17 employees for questioning. No arrests have been made.

A company spokesman says McDonald's is cooperating with the investigation.

hope the two sheriffs make a full recovery. thats just plain wrong, someone must've done that, thats no accident.

A sad but true state of the world that we live in. Incidents like this (food laced with anything from body fluids to floor dirt) are much more common than you think. And even small communities like where I live are not immune to such things.

Almost every L.E.O. that I know will not eat somewhere (on or off duty) unless:
1) It's buffet style & everyone eats from the same containers
2) They can clearly see the food prep area and watch their orders being made.
or
3) They know the entire kitchen staff (this typically applies to small Mom & Pop places where there are only 2 or 3 folks in the kitchen anyway)

this country is in a sad state of affairs if that even has to be a consideration to them, but can you blame them?

Wow, that is kinda disturbing, what did they ever do to deserve that? Nothing, just protecting them. I hope they make a full recovery, and whomever slipped that glass in there gets arrested, and charged fully.
