portable radio

I'm sure this has been asked before but I am looking for any advice on portable radios. I curently have a motorola HT1000 and a Kenwood TK-230. Looking to buy a new one soon and would like some feedback on what others use and their oppinions.

The HT1000 r very good radios but from a few posts in here they r bout to discontinue that model. my dept just bought a few kenwood tk-272g they r good radios tuff and we get out pretty good around here in them and we have some very difficult spots to get out on hand helds sometimes but i have found nothing better than a motorola gp300 for tuffness.

We've been issueing Vertex 180's to the troops.16 channel scan,page capable,small stature,great battery life and short money.Might want to give it a look.I've got guys who could break an anvil,and they haven't broken these yet.T.C.
