My chief recently ordered some incident command CDs from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). From what I can tell (in my limited experience), these CDs are pretty good at teaching you about how to coordinate fireground operations. They have taught me many things about how to deploy units, what these units should do once deployed, staging, fire flow formula, and many other things.
The CDs cover many different scenarios inluding hostage situation/arson fire, ranch house fire, dormatory fire, mansion fire, and a townhouse fire.TO/EMT CVFD (1219)

There are a bunch of good one for you if you have a palm pilot. Like a shift calendar, HasMat manual, flow calulators, Firefighter tests, EKG, and a ton of medical stuff.Comment

strictly pc based
I was looking for stuff for the home computer I do not have a palm pilot I am not that high tech yet. Thanks thoughComment

does anyone know the name?
i went to harrisburg and they had this one program for sale. you could like take a picture of a house or w/e and scan it on to your computer. then you could do like a scenario, for example you could click something and place fire into a window and have smoke coming out of it. or you could make a fully involved structure fire. it was really cool i just dont remeber the name of it.Comment

Eone,
I believe your thinking of Fire Studio 2.0. If you go to www.digitalcombustion.com, you can check it out. Great program, I use it to teach all the time. It is pricey, and I don't think it's what fd7 is looking for.
The FEMA CD's are also good, and they're free. Just go to www.fema.gov, cycle through to the NFA site, and click on publications.
Finally, I would recommend checking out IFSTA or Fire Engineering. Both have available software for learning. Reasonably priced and informative.
Good Luck,

FEMA Software
Got to agree with the others. Our small rural department is utlizing the FEMA Incident Command series now. It is good stuff, loaded with practical information, layed out in a logical flow for learning, and you gotta love that price tag.Comment

You can order several incident command scenarios on CD Rom which are excellent (and free).
The actual ordering site seems to be down right now, but you should be able to order them eventually.

I played a game once that was extremely fun, but also made me do alot of critical fire ground thinking. Believe it or not the game was called Emergency, although I don't know who made it. You do kind of have to live thru the E.M.S. and police senarios, but the fire ones make you think. You have to do everything from sending the right equipment with the right personnel staffing, then you have to deploy your personnel with the proper equipment to mitigate the problem. And believe it or not it works on time basis, the longer you take the more stuff that can become involved in the fire. If you want to know more let me know and I will find the game and who makes it at home. Take care and be safe out there...Comment

Cool Game
I have the same game, EMERGENCY.
It pretty cool. Start off simple and get very tuff.
You are the IC. You decide what equipment you need and
what personnel you want to take. It has everything
from a sipmle car accident, to a nucular melt down.
The game is made by WizardWorks ent. and can be bought
from Amazon.com. There is a new verison out Emergency 2
which I intend to buy.
Its not much for the NFPA or NFSC but give a good idea
of what a IC goes threw. Of course as an IC you have
assistance from your jr officers, in the game you dont.
Its worth checking our and you can down load a three
level trial for there web sight.
Enjoy
