It is about 10:00 CST, and I'm at work, drinking as much coffee as I can get my hands on to, and trying to stay awake. Why you ask, because like the rest of you, I made the decision to protect my community, and now after 6 Months I know that this is one of the best choices that I have made in my life. Sure getting that call at 2:00 in the morning after only just getting to bed, and fighting fire until it is time to go to your Job, does not make for a great next day, but knowing that I have provided some help to the people of my community makes it all worth it.
I'm not even sure that I would want to do FF as a full timer, there is just something about that feeling of getting the call, in the middle of the night, and rolling up to the fire 5 Minutes later ready to do what needs to be done.
For everyone that helped answer all the strange questions that I had when I first arrived on the scene here thanks. And for the Crusties that kept me in line when needed, double thanks. In the short 6 months that I have been doing this, I have already completed both FFI and FFII, along with passing my state certs, and on top of that I have learned, the things that just are not taught in class, that normally would take a long time to pick up on.
As some of you may know I will be leaving in a few months to go playing in Europe, my Department has already said, that they are going to miss me, and that they look forward to my return so that I can continue to be part of there great team.
I owe allot to some of you guys and gals here. Thanks
