  • WTC Update--1500th victim (1 of our own) is identified

Captain Brian Hickey's remains were identified positively on his birthday and exactly 1 year after he is laid to rest. Thought you may want to read the story.

Posthumous promotion. The Worcester Fire Department did the same thing for Jay Lyons, as he was on the next promotion list to Lt.

Gonzo is right on the money. The FDNY memorial page lists all the victims in categories, according to their rank at the time of the incident. However, when you view the page dedicated to that firefighter...it reflects the fact that some of them were promoted posthumously. Brian received such a promotion. They can be viewed at the following link.

Members who received posthumous promotions have an asterisk by their name.

                      Rest In Peace Brother

Did anyone see the "Dateline" story of Brian's wife and son? It ended the show with Tom Brokaw in tears and all choked up, just as we all feel for the Brothers...
