The decision is down to a Clothing Designer, and a FDNY Female Firefighter. If you'd like, you can vote (hopefully--LOL) for the FF, by going to www.barbie.com. Parential votes and children votes are counted separately, one can be found under the Calendar, the other under Parents, or Parential votes! MIZCAP thanks you!!!!!!!!!!! Cake & Bowls?????? I think the right word for the Church is Circus, LOL! Actually no.....she's assigned to E Co 4, at the South Street Seaport, about 6-8 blocks from "Ground Zero. The reason I mention Circus, is because until they get a permanent home, Eng 10/Lad 10 is housed there also, along with Lad 15, and Eng 4 the permanent residents......so it is truly a Circus.

        For LT/E229.....will do, stay safe!

I put my vote in for a Barbie firefighter

Not looking so hot for a Babrbie firefighter under the kids votes though.

                Results of the children's poll:
Barbie is getting a new career. What should it be?
                10% Firefighter
                62% Fashion Designer
                26% Teacher

My little girl voted for teacher, said she couldn't imagine
                Barbie as a firefighter.
Want an honest answer? Ask a kid. God bless them.

Well, since studies show that a true-life Barbie would have to crawl on all fours because of her.... endowments, she wouldn't be much good for anything BUT a firefighter in that poll!!!

It speaks volumes that young girls today can visualize Barbie being a fashion designer or teacher but not being a Firefighter. As a female Firefighter, I often get shocked looks from women and young girls when I take off my mask and they see a woman in her twenties with long hair and makeup on in fire gear. Many young girls ask me questions about why I would WANT to be a Firefighter. I tell them all the same thing...like many things in life, this profession calls or chooses you, not the other way around. I was drawn to Firefighting from the time I was about 21 years old. It took me another 6 years to actually go to the academy, but I wouldn't change the decision I made for anything in the world. I find that many times, men are more accepting of me than women are. The women are unsure of my "motives" for being in the fire service, or think I can't do the job. My fun in life is proving them wrong, on all accounts. I would love to see a Barbie Firefighter, but if they make one they should make her more realistic (body wise) because the Barbie my generation grew up with certainly could NOT perform the exhausting tasks required to be a Firefighter. My neice has told me that she wants to be a Firefighter when she grows up and I support her 100% in this decision. A woman can do the job just as well as any man, and it is about time we start educating the young women of tomorrow about this fact. My vote went for the Barbie Firefigher. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Take care out there.
Never forget those who went before and sacrified to make us better and stronger as a fire service and a nation. 09-11-01 forever etched in time and our memories. God Speed Boys!

I checked with my 6 year old daughter. Her mother is a teacher, so Barbie should be also. She has over 20 Barbies, so I have to say she is THE authority around here.

The kids may want a fashion designer but the parents want a firefighter. I think that's kinda neat don't you?

Okay, so compromise... a fashion designer Barbie that designs bunker gear!!
                          1. When in doubt, CYA!!
                          2. These opinions are entirely my own and do not necessarily reflect those of any agency with which I am affiliated.
