  • Emergency Weather

I have a friend who is going to school to become a meteorologist. She is working for NOAA this summer and is getting into Operational Meteorology, Damage assessment, and Emergency Management.
She is doing a survey for school about how we all interpret emergency weather notifications and such. It’s all anonymous. Also pass it on to others is you want to. They need to get all the info that that can. They are trying to help us after all…

    Thanks and stay safe!

    What a job!!

Lets see, "highs today AROUND 70"
    or " A 50% chance of rain"
    or " Partly cloudly"
    or " Partly sunny"
    and on and on.

Just some thoughts on an exact science.

I always wonder, when they say "30% chance of rain", is that
      a) 30% in 100% of the area, or
b)100% chance in 30% of the area??????

By the way you would'nt be one of Clio's finest firefighters would you?
        See you in the fall!

          OK, I Did The Survey......

Now I'm just sitting back waiting to see Lora on The Weather Channel.Has anyone had any success with the Cow Pasture method of predicting rain? You know, the one where there are 10 cows in a field, 8 of them are laying down. Each cow laying down equals 10% Chance of rain, 8 cows = 80% Chance of rain. Rocket Science.
