I have heard of Kelly tools before and know what one looks like. I was wondering, does it work any better than a halligan, and if so, what are the advantage of them?

The kelly tool was a predecessor to the halligan. A good halligan is an improved kelly tool. The point adds versitility and is a feature that the kelly doesn't have.
