Memorial Day used to mean that I had a day off from school if I still was in. It also meant barbeques, time with family and so on.

In my senior year of high school, I join the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program. I was in the program for around 1 year. I never ended up leaving for boot camp because I couldn't pass the Initial Strength Test. Being in the program greatly changed my perspective of what it means to serve this great country and what the meaning of Memorial Day really is.

September 11, 2001 also greatly changed my perspective. On that sad day, we lost many of our brothers and sisters needlessly. I would like to thank everyone who made the untimate sacrifice that day. I would also like to thank those of you who have served or are currently serving this country whether it be military, fire service, EMS, or police officers.
