Ideas for Fundraiser???

Looking for alittle help!
Last night at our business meeting I was branded the new chairman for our fundraising committee. Most of the guys in the dept. are stuck in the old ways and look to just one fundraiser to raise our money. (Picture fundraiser) Though this does bring in some money for the dept., it doesn't seem to be enough for the whole year. Anyone willing to share any ideas??? Please!

Try checking out page 61 of Firehouse... you can sell those fine Firefighter chocolate bars! YUMMY! Only sell 2,000 and you have enough for half of an airpack!

what we do is Fish Frys at the station. most of the departments do this around us.we do all the fish and frys you can eat. for our department we average $1500-2 grand each one. we have 4 or 5 a year.this money goes toward misc expense(aka beer runs)
and if we need small new equiptment/tools. we're thinking about after this next fish fry season getting a new set of jaws for the new truck and have the second set on the old pumper.(i hope so i don't like our set we got now)

This is kinda weird. I was just thinking today about fundraisers and thought up somethine and would like to get all of your opinions. My uncle runs the local American Legion and about 6-8 times a year they have Meat Shoots. Do any of you see this a possibly a chance to raise abit of money for a dept? Or do any of you know of a dept. that does something similar. Let me know.

Some of the things our department does are Dinners twice a year (May and October) that we serve stuffing/potatoes/chicken/ham/noodles,etc and that will normally bring in around $5k...In june...our company also organizes a town parade/car cruise so we also have a chicken bbq on that day which normally brings in alot too.
Another thing we thought about doing but havent yet is selling shirts with the company logo, etc or whatever on it. *shrug* Another thing we do, i dont know if you have this option at all or not...is we have a fair in our town every august...we dont run it...but we do have a stand there that we sell food from all week...last year i beleive we raised over 12,000 from that in profit.

A meat shoot is kind of a old-backwoods-hick thing. It's kind of a shooting competition. You pay so much and shoot so many shots and see who's the best. Just a friendly little game.

we do many fundraisers during the year. mostly selling raffle tickets for various things. we have had some success with a poker tourament we do twice a year. depending on how many people you have enter, will depend on what you make. we usually bring in around $2500- $3000 each event. it takes a little time to start up, but once you have a list of people who regularly attend, you put them on a mailing list and send them an entry form in the mail.

We do a couple dinners a year, usually a roast beef dinner, a chicken BBQ, spagetti dinner, that kind of thing. Each dinner usually brings in a good chunk of change, couple of grand. Another idea is " fill the boot campaign." Go to one or 2 of your busiest intersections in town, all geared up, and have the cars that stop throw a donation in a boot. We did this for FDNY, we rasies 4 grand in just a few hours. Good luck and Stay Safe...Jay

I have a suggestion and perhaps a question on fundraisers: Anyone try selling a custom made lapel pin with your dept. logo on it? The general public are really into lapel pins, especially anything with the flag on it. A lot bigger profit margin than T-shirts, and your customers don't have to come to an event.

I created a Xmas tree with red, white & blue and stars & stripes for USMC Toys For Tots this past Christmas and it was great. The Marines liked it so much, they sent some to the White House. You should see the awesome "Firefighter's Cross" or "Heroes' Cross" I have been donating to FDNY. I hope to use it for fundraising, pleased to send you a sample.
