I like to play practical jokes on people.....i hate slow days. I can't stand just sitting around doing nothing. I go jogging or find whatever i can to do. Wash trucks, clean...whatever.
We usually only get a few calls a day, so if I`m hanging out and we`re bored, we may go over some equipment, watch TV, make something to eat, or try some 45 second drills.
well i'm a volunteer but if i already worked out for the day, waxed my pickup(if it's not too warm or cold out), my room clean, and house work done then it's time to play gamecube
Slow days?? we really do not have slow or downs days any more. If we are not working, we are training on one thing or another. Our CHiefs see open spots and fill them with stuff!!
I agree with Chief Taylor, Slow Days?? With as much as the fire department is responsible for these days there is always something that can be done during the tour. We have some sort of company drill each day tour, BI's (building inspections) and sometimes we just take a ride around the district to become more familiar with with it. If you mean having "down time" That's a little different. I use this time to keep up on department memo's and reading.
There will be always be down time but use it to your advantage.
