    *** ### NEWS FLASH ### ***

Often communities remember human sacrifice through observing a minute's silence. For International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) in 2002 we propose a modification of this to reflect on the committment and sacrifices of firefighters' worldwide in a truely appropriate manner for firefighters:

Next Saturday May 4th (International Firefighters' Day) at noon (local time) let us sound off our fire sirens for 30 seconds in memory of, and respect for, all firefighters who have been lost in the line of duty or passed on before us.

On May 4th at high noon please Sound Off in respect of past firefighters.

Please spread the word and get people to register their support and involvement at the Official International Firefighters' Day website.

Please come and visit the official International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) website at http://www.futureweb.com.au/edmondson as it has undergone a major upgrade and now has a number of new & interactive features:

    * Promotion ideas - find out ways of spreading the word

    * Mailing List - keep in touch with major site news and events

    * Design a logo competition - enter a logo to represent IFFD internationally

    * IFFD articles - submit any articles on IFFD in your area

    * World-wide event calendar - find out your country's event details, or add your own

    * Stories from firefighters - submit or read stories from firefighters

    * IFFD Awards - apply for one of our great awards or come and give us one of yours

    * Fire Links - come and submit your link early to this international collection

    * IFFD Forum - share ideas and views on promoting and recognising firefighters

    * Tell a Friend - a simple way to refer your friends to the IFFD website

    * Guestbook - please let us know what you think of our site

Feel free to browse the site and pass on the link to family and friends. We need to spread the word re IFFD and the 2002 Sound Off for FireFighters.

If you have any department or fire photos or other items which may help enhance the IFFD website please forward them to me via return email.

NOTE: If you have trouble linking with the futureweb server you can use the alternate address for the IFFD homepage at: http://www.geocities.com/iffd2000/.
