I need some ideas....good song??

Hey everybody....since I'm in college away from my home department alot I want to put together a little music mix for them. I need something to do on weekends :-) What I'm planning on doing is getting some recordings of dispatches and calls, and mixing in a song. Now the question is....what song should i use?? I was thinking about "the Change" by Garth Brooks. Any other ideas??

Try a song called "The Fireman's Prayer" by a band called Plainfolk. I think the URL is http://www.plainfolk.com/fman.html.

It's a little heavy, but it's good. Guaranteed to bring a tear to the eye.

How about Hero by Mairah Carey or Wind beneath my wings I'm not sure who sings that one. Or maybe The Show goes on a song from the Soundtrack of Backdraft

I for one think that "The Change" Is a great song for what you want to do. I'd also like to throw out another Garth song, how about " standing outside the fire" ?

Standing Outside the Fire has a chorus that would work great, but since its not really talking about fire in a literal sense I don't know if I want to use it. I'm still considering it though. Keep the ideas coming!!

The soundtrack from Mr. Holland's Opus has two versions of the symphony played at the end of the movie. Either version would be extremely fitting with that kind of video. I've choreographed a sequence through that piece that runs through alarm reciept, response, arrival, rescue, suppression, take-up, return, and ends with a collage of different various scenes. Pretty cool, but I don't have the resources to actually make the video.

Two that I like are:

The Oklahoma City Fire Department used a video set to "Angels Among Us" by Alabama? in a presentation that they made to us about their response to the bombing of the Federal Building. Very moving. I can't hear that song now without thinking of firefighters and the job that we do, and especially that event.

Another song that I've heard used a couple of times with good effect is "Danger Zone" from the opening scenes of the movie "Top Gun."

I have done several slide shows, both apparatus and jobs set to music...Have used the following: Original theme to "Star Wars", "The Imperial March" (on the soundtrack to "The Empire Strikes Back") Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Saving Private Ryan, Gettysburg, and other soundtracks....Other music used has been: "Angel of Harlem" (U2), Louder than hell, Save our souls, Home Sweet Home (All by Motley Crue, all on "Theatre of Pain") Have used "The Fireman" by George Strait, Holding out for a Hero (Artist unkown) There is lots of stuff out there, you just have to use your imagination!!! And some songs are only good LOUD!!!! (ps- one time I showed a set of slides of Apparatus from the USSR and other eastern european countries, and played the soundtrack to "The Hunt for Red October"
