any one know how to program an old AR160 scanner?

My grandfather gave me an old AR 160 scanner made by A.O.R. I dont have directions to it does any one know how to program it?

Can you describe what the scanner looks like? If it's what I'm thinking of, you can't program it, it takes "Crystals"

it has a vol nob and a sq nob on the right side and 5 buttons across the bottom and a key pad on top

I think I may know what scanner your talking about, but I`m not sure how to program it. Since it`s got a keypad, it probably doesn`t use crystals(I used to have one of those:eek so try typing stuff into that to see what you can do.

You can download manuals for discontinued models. Lots of manufacturers allow you to download manuals on line.

One of the previous posts said this set might require crystals. If that is the case, you can find people who make custom radio crystals for old sets. Try "radio crystals" on yahoo.
