Truckman/ Gut belts

Hey everyone! Have any of you used the leather truckman or nylon "gut" belts? Are they a worthwhile investment? What kinds of things have you done with them?

I bought a boston leather truckman belt about ten years ago and have used it everyday since i now keep a rope drop bag on it as well as a small axe and my radio when i need it. I highly recomend one for yourself. i have also had each engine truck that i have been assigned to embossed onto it as kinda living resume of what i have been on and where i have been assigned.

I purchased the "GUT BELT" about 6 months ago from thefirestore.com. I am very satisfied with its performance. I compared the Boston and the Gut Belt and found the Gut Belt was a better value for me. I have a rope bag, truckmans axe, and personal escape hadware on mine. The design of the gear hooks will not let your gear slide foward when you are in a crawl. I also like the strength of the GUT BELT because you can use it in conjunction with a ladder strap if your work for a ladder co. or a life saftey belt.

It all depends on what you plan to use it for. Many use it just for "a tool harness" others like the fact of using one for personal escape. My personal opinion is use it for a little of both. I have seen the Gut Belt and I am planning on purchasing one. But I have also heard many good arguments for the Boston Belt. My advice do a little research and listen to others advice, then make a choice. Good Luck.

I have the leather one and love it.I can carry an extra light and a axe(or any other tool)I saw a pic of truckies in San Fran and they had personal axes lights lifesafety ropes and the like.But had the chance to go to a class that had a Chicago firefighter as an instructor.He loved his Gut Belt,while another instructor swore on teh leather.If you have a chance to try both out at a show,do so.Cause like they say to each their own.
