My dept. needs to raise $3000-4000 over the next 2-3 months. We are kind of stuck for fresh ideas for fundraisers. Our town population is about 1,500-2,000.

What are some successful fundraisers your dept. has had in the past? All ideas are welcome.

    Thanks!

TRY A "TREE OF LIGHTS" WE MAKE ABOUT $1000.00 EACH XMAS ON THAT FUNDRAISER. MAKE FLIERS AND CHARGE $5.00 FOR EACH BULB THAT YOU SELL FOR A PERSON (MEMORY OR HONOR OF) AND YOU WORK WITH THE LOCAL PAPER TO PRINT AROUND XMAS. WE ALSO PUT UP A SIGN THAT HAS THE PEOPLES NAMES AND A TREE WITH THE LIGHTS ON IT. WHITE BULBS IN MEMORY, RED FOR HONOR. IT HAS WORK WELL FOR US IN THE PAST. THE BIGGEST THING IS GET THE WORD OUT AND BEAT THE BUSHES. CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS ARE GOOD PLACES TO START. E-MAIL ME DIRECT IF YOU NEED MORE INFO.

Well I know of a dept. here that made around $6000 in about a months time. They held a raffle where tickets were $20 each. They sold 500 tickets and at the end gave away the winners choice of either a 2002 Artic Cat ATV or $4000 cash. The way it works out is if the person wants the cash they simply give them $4000 of the $10000 raised. If they want the ATV the just go and buy it and keep the rest (roughly $6000) It's pretty easy to sell the tickets when people notice they can help the town and win 4 grand.

We hold Steak dinners (my company does it in February and the Ladder company does it in November, so we don't clash with the holiday spending). The tickets are $25 and we sell 180 tickets because that's all that we're allowed to serve in the hall. The guests get a t-bone steak, baked potato and some onion concoction plus dessert and drinks. It is a lot of work, but it's fun.

Since your in such a time restricted bind, I suggest you just take your case to the people of your town through a town meeting or maybe with the help of your newspaper/radio. It's amazing what people will do sometime when you just come right out and ask.Best of luck.
