overtime pay ??

Since alot of cities work hours
like 24 on 48 off, do you get
much overtime, if so, what kind
of overtime do you work?

We work 24/48 and overtime on a regular basis. If you really tried, you can get 4 or more 24's in a month. You can't work anymore than 72 hours straight w/o a 24 hour break. Some guys double their salary in a year with OT.

We work 24/48, have 11 people on each shift, and are allowed per contract to have two people off on earned time. Sick time/school time/adm leave do not count towards this, so if we have more than two people off due to this situation, there is overtime available. OT is pretty common, unfortunatly with 9 people on the rotation per shift (officers are on a different rotation) it takes a couple of months to get back to the top of the OT list.
