The original subject of this thread was basically about the estimate of 75,000 Firefighters attending the FDNY Memorial on 11/18 and if that number was too low.

I'll be there along with several members of my department. We're trying to get others from area departments together to go with us. We'd like to get a full tour bus. (If anyone from the Toledo, OH area reads this, go to my depts. website www.wtfd.net for the details and e-mail address.)

How many others on the forum are planning to go?

I was discussing this with some guys down at Blue Hills (CT). We think there will be 300-500,000 firefighters there from all over the world.

E229lt, now that I understand that the procession before the Memorial Service includes firefighters from all over the great land, if I have to come by myself I will. I'd like to stay on for a few days afterwards. I will e-mail you why because it's very personal.
        Thanks LT, be safe!

Our local is working out details for travel arrangements so there will be lots of brothers from Canada at the service. If you do go it might not be a bad idea to go to a few FDNY funerals to show your support for the families of the bravest men known in recent times.

I know some of us from Georgia are coming. Flying up Saturday and back Sunday evening. We are staying at the Marriot Courtyard at La Guardia.

Just to be clear, the thread was closed not because of any post by E229, but because there started to be rumor posts that included inaccurate or incomplete information. Two have been removed prior to the thread being closed. Both were posted Thursday before the official date was formally announced by the IAFF. The IAFF had given us (and other fire service media) specific instructions asking us not to provide the date in any manner until it was released by them Friday.

A press conference is scheduled for early this week to formally announce the service to the mass media that will include the IAFF, FDNY and City officials. It had been scheduled for Friday but was changed in part so that it didnt create any confusion with the Memorial Service Sunday at Ground Zero for all victims.

              Thanks
